Not sure if you already checked, but on the left hand side there is a "Restaurants" section to click on. Then you can enter each restaurant's name in the "Search" box above to see if there are any entries and reviews.

Another good resource is The Fork, also with ratings, where you can also reserve online.

It's good to know a few places near your accommodations for days when you've been on the go from morning to late. But, it's also good to know of places near where you'll wind up the day and will be hungry before heading "home".

I have gone to the Trappiste, the Sarah Bernhardt and the Mistral (which is in the same building as the SB) quite regularly over the years. There's nothing "special" about them, but they have always been extremely convenient when going to one or the other of the theatres at Place du Châtelet. La Robe et le Palais is definitely in a higher category and requires a reservation a lot of the time.

We had a more than average meal at Le Victoria and thought the ambience was very much as one imagines a Parisian bistro. Great fun and nice food at a very reasonable price. Skirt steak and shallots/duck magret; choc cake and ice cream/creme brulee, bottle of wine €63 Lots of dishes such as steak frites and lots of locals eating there. Also a very nice meal at a place called La Casita in a side street off the top of the Champs Elysee in Rue Washington.

We've gone to Au Vieux Comptoir twice (in the same trip). It's a great little wine bar, no menu but nice a la carte choices and the lovely waitress will gladly pair each course with a glass of wine. Hubby still raves about the figs and ham with balsamic reduction and the waffle with salted caramel sauce was delicious. Count on about 100 euros per couple for 3 courses with wine.

We stayed at the Britannique (which we thoroughly enjoyed) and ate twice at Au Vieux Comptoir (auvieux-comptoir.com) which is just round the corner from the hotel. We loved it. Food good, ambience superb and service excellent. After a day's walking around Paris, foot sore and tired it was so very good to nip round the corner for dinner and back to the hotel very contented. Two things to warn about - it's small and extremely popular so to be sure of a place best to reserve a table. The space between tables is virtually non existent (certainly outside) which means you're almost sitting in your neighbours lap - but it may not be your cup of tea. We enjoyed it because it was very sociable and helped by an extremely competent and friendly waitress. Having finished our meal we lingered for a long time over our drinks because the company was so good and stimulating and it was hard to tear ourselves away.

Not very far away, on rue Saint Denis, is the restaurant L'Entrecôte, just across from the Fontaine des Innocents. It is a favorite of Parisians.

I'm confused, Kerouac. There are a lot of "Entricote" restaurants listed for Paris. Is the restaurant you recommend L'Entrecote des Halles at 38 Rue St. Denis? If so, the reviews it gets are really horrible. We are looking for good places to eat in May, and your advice is usually taken as gospel, but if I believe the reviews we will be giving this eatery a pass..

I guess they just serve things that appeal to the French and not to tourists then. I have been going there for almost 20 years.

Your experience trumps reviews by clueless tourists any day, IMHO.
