French film - Amelie.

This is a bizzare question on behalf of my 17yr old daughter who studies French and wishes to visit any locations from this film that also happens to be her favourite.

Has anyone heard of or know of any locations filmed that we may visit when spending a week here in June....Any suggestions, information or advice would be very much appreciated.

Thanks for reading

Go to www.movie-locations.com and this site will show you numerous locations where filming was done for Amelie and tell where it is located. Hope this helps.

The café (rue Lepic) and the greengrocer (rue des Trois Frères) are easy to find, as is the exit of metro Lamarck-Caulaincourt where the blind man had an epiphany.

Here's a map with a link to a self-guided walk.

Not a bizarre question at all, though. I love see Paris while following in the footsteps of another. Makes you go places you'd never visit on your own and can lead to some pretty cool discoveries.

That is a great link, phread. We enjoyed our visit to Montmartre last year and followed a walking tour I downloaded from somewhere. We want to go back, ~and~ I have recorded Amelie to watch again before we go, so this would be a fun way to revisit the area. Thanks.

I would hope, if your daughter is truly interested, she would be doing her own research!

More than a dozen places seen in the movie are described in detail in the book "Paris Movie Walks" (along with dozens of other movies).

You can also see the adult video store where Nino works in the film at the Boulevard de Clichy, near the Pigalle Metro stop, it is called Palace Video.

Her flat in the film is located at rue des Trois Freres in Montmartre.

The Canal of St-Martin is a location used in the film, too:

This is a nice little blog about the filming locations, too:

I seem to remember the gnome was spotted at Miami Beach, but I guess that is not quite exatly what you are after (and I could be wrong 'cos it's a while since I have watched this delightful film).

What a good idea, I think Amelie was one of the most beautiful movies I have seen.
