Campanile , Kyriad, Tulip inn- is thsi a good chain of hotel

Hi , We are travelling through out Europe in 2012 and have come across Campanile, Kyriad and Tulip In n Hotels under the Louvre Hotel Group. They seem much cheaper in price than major hotel chains.

Does anyone know whether traveling with 2 adults and 2 children, are you required to pay extra per child in their rooms of 4.?

Thank you

lauren

Campanile is an excellent motel chain with a few urban hotels. Kyriad hotels are generally converted older urban hotels completely modernized to 3-star standards; sometimes they are a new building, though. The Louvre Hôtels website is quite accurate in its descriptions.

As there are 4 of you, you will have to book a quad room. The four people in the room can be any age.

This website has a lot of information on it. There are a number of cheap hotel chains in France, far more than the rest of Europe.

http://www.eurapart.com/twostar.html

We used B&B on our first trip, they were extremely economical but as first timers travelling for10 weeks we didn`t realise that most of them were just off the motorway so there was no food or sightseeing handy. They use the name of the town you want to see but can be many miles away .

Re your other post you really would save yourself loads of difficulties by picking your car up as you leave Paris. I think you`ve been given bad advice.

Taxis are quite reasonable and you`ll be able to choose a nice central location for your stay without worry about driving, parking and sightseeing.

We too are heading north from Paris and have decided that CDG suits us.

We`ve chosen Driveaway as they have some good earlybird specials at the moment.

Thanks for the information , I was a little lost in getting basic information on quad share as some bigger hotels showed double with Sofa kids free, others double with sofa extra costs to pay and quad rooms but no further mention of children.ie 4 persons each at a cost or 4 persons at this one cost per room.

I will re look at collecting the car and will look at taxi etc into paris. We too have gone with Driveaway holiday for Peugeot car. Great early-bird deal and we are looking forward to our driving holiday ! Thanks everyone for your assistance.

Lauren

There are no hotel chains in France that I would avoid -- they are all generally clean and comfortable, ranging from spartan to quite nice.

The only caveat might be Formule 1 -- only because a bathroom down the hall is a challenge with kids.

Campanile are usually fine although normally of the edge of town - a lot are a standard motel design with the rooms accessed from an outside walkway. Kyriad can be a bit variable - the one at Nice Port is the worst place I have stayed for a long time! Haven't used Tulip Inn in France, but I think they are a bit more upmarket.

Also worth a look at the Accor chain - Novotel may still offer 2 children free (room, breakfast and dinner!) which, when ours were smaller, always worked out cheaper than paying for 2 rooms in a lower standard hotel.

Or use sites like hotels.com and stay in individually owned hotels, of which there are hundreds.
