Paris Passes

We'll be in Paris for 5 nights and wondered if anyone has any recommendations regarding purchasing passes ahead of time. Do they recommend the 4 day museum pass, will we require a Metro pass...I know we'll have to pay extra for the metro to Versaille.......or should we go for the full Paris pass that includeds the museums and metro...as well as the hop on hop off bus? Just wondering if anyone who has been to Paris can tell me if it's necessary for the passes or should we pay as we go....any suggestions would be appreciated...thanks!

This Paris Pass question is asked every few days and the answer remains the same: it is an overpriced offering of that which is otherwise available at a much lower cost.

The Museum pass can be interesting if you plan on spending a great deal of time in museums. Otherwise, paying as you go will save even more money.

Referencing transportation, the Paris Pass only includes a Paris Visite Pass valid for central Paris only (not Versailles. CDG, or DLP). You can share a group of ten tickets t+ which cost only 12.70€. Unless your 5 days in Paris starts on a Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday, (which would allow you to benefit from a Navigo Découverte pass), buying as many groups of 10 tickets as you might need will cover most visitor´s needs.

the thing to realize is that there is no 'Paris pass' in the sense of a single card that takes you to museums and transport like say te Roma Pass or the Firenze Card --- it is just a marketing tool -- they bundle up passes available separately for less

This is the site for the museum pass -

http://en.parismuseumpass.com/ We found it was worthwhile, but only you can determine that. Once you decide what museums you want to visit, you can check their entry fees and then decide.
