This might be a case of "can't have your cake and eat it too", but can anyone recommend a decent budget hotel near a Metro stop in the central arrondissements of Paris (1st - 6th preferably) for under or around 125 euros per night?
I will be there with my partner (we're both around 30 years old) for three nights in the week between Christmas and New Year's Eve at the end of this year. We will be catching the early Eurostar from London on Thu 27th Dec and leaving from CDG after 8pm on Sun 30th Dec.
We have a big itinerary planned and we will be doing lots of walking and Metro catching. We want to see and do as much as possible in a short time and we figure we'll be out and about all day, so we just need somewhere central as a base and for sleeping. We will probably head out to a bar once or twice, but we don't have much interest in clubs. Or in shopping (sorry, I'm a let down to the female gender, I know).
I know everyone is going to tell me that I don't need to stay in the central areas to have access to everything, but after doing some research I would really like to stay in an area close to the Seine this time. This is my first trip to Paris but I just know I'm going to love it and go back one day, so next time I'll stay in one of outer districts and plan a more relaxing trip so I can soak up a bit more of the wonderful character I keep reading about.
Thanks in advance for any recommendations and advice! :)
