CDG to JFK Suggestions?

Unfortunately our time in Paris is near an end. The tips we received on this board were invaluable.

We have an American Airlines 5:10 pm flight this Friday to JFK. We were planning to leave Montparnasse via taxi at around 1:00. Trip to CDG is about an hour. Any tips for going to the airport? At the airport?

Does it make a difference if we check in online the day before? Is there curbside? We do not have to get any VAT refunds just get to CDG and check in.........any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

If you are in Montparnasse, why not take the Air France bus from there? That way you don't have to worry about the taxi meter spinning like a top during the traffic jams.

There is no curbside check-in in France, but the late flights like 5:10 p.m. are long after "flight rush hour" so I would say you don't even need to worry about being there 3 hours early -- the "3 hour" rule is mostly valid for the North American flights between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

I always do online check-in as far ahead as possible to ensure a good seat (critical when you are 6'6"); see TA-affiliated SeatGuru to check. Air France bus is a good suggestion from this area indeed.

My rule of thumb for any airport is to ALWAYS check in on-line the night before. This helps if you run into any travel delays on the way to the airport and you may also be able to find better seats.
