Brussels to Paris

We are travelling from Brussels to Paris February 10/13 and would love any information regarding, best way to get there (assuming train), place to stay in Paris close to attractions, etc. Also if the train ticket to Paris, the batobus or tour buses in Paris require pre-booking?? Thanks so much!

There are flights, but yes you are correct, the best way is by train.

Thalys run a regular service from Brussels Midi to Paris Gare Du Nord which takes aprox 1h15.

Great thanks, does that ticket need to be pre-booked? I have read the hotels in the Latin Quarter is the best place to stay for first time Paris travellers, is this true?

Buy your Thalys tickets now for the best price. Prices will keep going up as the travel date gets closer.

Everyone has a different opinion about the best place to stay. It really does not matter much so long as you are in one of the single-digit arrondissemenets.

Yes I would Pre book in order to get a good price.

To be honest there are many good areas for first timers to Paris. Firstly it's not a big city and secondly all the monuments, attractions and Museums are spread out so what may be good for one district might not be good for another.

Latin Quarter/St Germain are no doubt favourites and often recommended on here. However it really depends what you are looking for.

Personally I love the Marais but the hotels are often very expensive.

There area few areas I would not really recommend - Champs Élysées (over priced), 16th district (lovely but too quiet for a first time weekend break) 19th or 20th districts ( can be a little unsafe in parts)

If you are looking for a budget tourist style hotel and want to have easy access to Gare Du Nord then there are lots of hotels in the 9th district. It does not have the charm of St Germain but hotels are generally cheaper and its still a good area for exploring Paris.

Simplest and quickest is the Thalys train as mentioned in other posts.

Brussels to Paris is also possible by bus - cheap but slow.
