Does the Bastille Market have another name?

I just bought a nice pretty book called Paris in a Basket Markets : The Food and the People.

…google.com/books/…

It’s about Paris markets and I can’t find any reference to the Bastille Market in it.

Is the Bastille Market called something else?

Marché Richard Lenoir is the old name of Marché Bastille.

Lots of people call it the Richard Lenoir market (that is the street it's on) but the city evidently calls it the Marché Bastille

Aloha from Kaua'i!

I first knew it as the Marche Richard Lenoir....took me a couple of years to figure out that the "Bastille Market" was the same thing....I'm a little slow obviously! LOL

There are actually two markets on boulevard Richard Lenoir, which is why one is called "Bastille" and the other one is called "Popincourt" and is farther along the boulevard. The Bastille market operates on Thursday and Sunday and the Popincourt market is on Tuesday and Friday.

There's also the Marché d'Aligre which isn't far from Bastille and is the largest fruits and vegetable market in France. It has an energy unlike any other market and the prices are generally much cheaper. (Best day to go is Sunday, as there is no market on Monday, so they try to get rid of everything possible on Sunday before it closes at 2pm.)

Thanks all,

I was about to be disappointed in my book. Any suggestions for markets in the Arles area………or others in Paris?

How to edit profile? I found mine but see nothing about edit or how to do it.

Also, I spoke too soon. I see references to other markets in Paris……thanks.
