Open top bus vs batobus

We will be visiting Paris for one day next week with our 4 children aged from 4 to 11. We want to just show them the highlights in an easy manner so are trying to decide to do this by open top bus tour or by batobus along the Seine. Any advice or opinions?

1. Re: Open top bus vs batobus

The Batobus is basically just a water taxi that has a few stops along the river. Getting to/from the dock stops involves a lot of stairs.

There are several open top buses - Les Cars Rouge, l'Opentour, Foxity

All have websites with details, schedules, fares, etc.

For "next week", much would depend on the weather as to whether you want to ride around on any "open top" bus, except for Foxity as their buses, unlike the others, have heat on the upper level and retracting windows for cold/rainy weather.

As djkjbooks stated, Batobus is limited stops, lots of steps and lots of waiting and you are limited to sights in proximity to the river. I would choose one of the HOHO buses, stay on for the entire route and then go around a second time getting off at places that caught your interest the first time around.

We were in Paris last month and the batobus was not running so might be best finding out if it is operational yet first

Their are 2 opentop bus companies operating in paris, one has a combo deal with the batobus which might be best option assuming that the batobus is runing

Thanks for advice so far. Hemlock, I like your idea of doing a full loop to get our bearings, then get off at a couple of the prominent sites.
