Paris From Above - 27 photos to enjoy

"Last Sunday, France celebrated Bastille Day, commemorating the start of the French Revolution in 1789 -- the end of monarchy and the beginning of modern France. Reuters photographers Charles Platiau and Gonzalo Fuentes took to the skies above Paris for the occasion, capturing images of the capital city, its unique blend of historic and modern architecture, and some of its residents and visitors enjoying the sunny day."

Thanks for sharing these, Shack. I loved the view of the Arc de Triomphe with no traffic around it, and the superbly pleached lime trees in the Place des Vosges.

How old is the photo of Ile St Louis? The eastern tip in the photo is not how it looks today... There is no building on the 'tip' side of the road - the park/square covers the entire tip now. Also, the northern bridge is different, goes straighter across now.

Just go in close on a Google satellite map of Ile St Louis...

Wow - spectacular shots and a whole different view of Paris! Thanks for posting the link.

@travelnutty, as ShackVancouver says, I think the photo is the opposite direction to the google map, The right-hand side tip with the the building is Place Louis Aragon, not the tip with the park.
