Heathrow to Avignon - by train - too much trouble??

Staying in a chateau south of Avignon with a large group.

I have a free flight getting me from New York to Heathrow (a gift from a friend) landing at 8.30 on Sept 7.

The next leg of the journey is up to me. Many of the cheaper flights are leaving Gatwick for Marseille around 6pm. gets me to the chateau very late in the evening. plus there is a transport issue from MRS to the house. plus I'd have to get to gatwick.

I was thinking of taxi from heathrow to St pancra - euro star to paris - a switch to the TGV and take that to avignon tgv station. is this just a big pain in the neck?

and whats the switch like in paris between the 2 stations?

Switching trains at Lille will be easier than switching stations in Paris. I don't think it's too much trouble at all. Be sure to allow plenty of time to connect to your train leaving London.

You're just too late for the direct London-Avignon Eurostar trains. The last one of the summer departs at 07:17 on September 7. So you will have one change of train, at Lille Europe as henneth said. You can book the whole trip with Eurostar. Timetable at www.eurostar.com/uk-en/train/timetables

Rather than a taxi to St Pancras from Heathrow, the Underground ("Tube") would probably be just as quick, and a lot cheaper. Direct journey on the Piccadilly Line from Heathrow to Kings Cross St Pancras.

I concur with the advice to take the Piccadilly line from Heathrow to St. Pancras. It's very simple to do, cheap, and possibly faster than a taxi.

Lille to Avignon TGV should work. But obviously, Paris to Avignon TGV should also work. Just check your options and take the best one.

When my husband did this transfer at Lille it was a cross platform transfer.
