Paris on a budget, parent + 1 teen

Dear travel frenzy,

Need your advices on where to stay in paris on a budget of around 80 to 90 eur per day, prefer walking distance to tourist attractions.

Looking for 1 room with queen + 1 single bed.

Planning to stroll by eiffel tower, arch d triomphe n notre dame n do some shopping. If time permits go to versailes, all in 4 days before we fly for barcelona.

Plan to go around feb to april 2014..

Thax in advance for the tips!!

You have virtually no chance of finding a triple hotel room for 90€ in the center if Paris. You might find a small apartment somewhere but I don't know about them. You will most likely need a budget of 150€ or more for a triple hotel room in a reasonable location if you book far ahead.

Note: if there are just 2 of you, then look for twin rooms, easier to find.

Here is the site for Lux Hotel Picpus, a 2-star by Picpus metro / Nation area... not a location where you will 'stroll by the Eiffel' but appears to have a chance of being in your price range and just by a metro stop for moving around Paris.

- family room starts at 87€

This hotel is by Porte Doree and Bois de Vincennes, again just next to a metro stop for getting around Paris. Their March rate for a triple is 124-131€

Thanks a lot for the info for rooms. Yes ive been looking around for hotels, seems my budget is too low for hotels. The downside of apartment i have to deposit cash, pretty tight on cash.

I looked up in the web there is walking tour in paris , do you think its worth it??

There are hundreds of walking tours of Paris. Which one are you looking at?

And is your budget just for accommodations, or for everything? If for everything, it's close to impossible. You might find a room at a hostel or at 1-star that doesn't have a web presence, but of course the latter would be very hard to locate and correspond with.

I would check a site like www.booking.com and search for a twin room. These will be cheaper than a triple, which is what you describe.

You might also try Hotel Corail, it's in a good location and appears to be just slightly over your budget: www.corailparishotel.com/

To make it clear -

If you wanted a queen bed + single bed, that is considered a 'triple' or room for 3 persons. If there are 3 of you actually, then that will be fine.

If there are only 2 of you traveling, then you can get a 'twin' room for 2 persons for less money that a triple (or queen + single bed). However, do not book a twin room thinking it will allow 3 people to sleep.

(I'm just not 100% clear on if there is 1 parent/1 teen, or 'parents' with 1 teen)...

My 80-90 eur budget is pnly for the room perday, im travelling with my husband + 1 kid. Ive searched apartments but a bit scared about the locations after reAding websites saying there are lots of crimes in paris.

My friend recommend apartment Marat, anyone know that area?

There aren't lots of "crimes" in Paris at all. It's a very safe city. You DO have to watch out carefully for your personal possessions when traveling around the city, because there are lots of pickpockets (but if it makes you feel any better I have made more than 110 trips to the city and never been pickpocketed, because I safeguard my stuff).

Don't know what you mean by Marat. Do you mean the Marais? It's a lovely area, but might be out of your price range, which is frankly very low.

Do you mean Marais, that area is very safe and very central.. if you can find an apartment in that area for your budget it would be good.
