Varenne to St Lazare for 8:20 a.m. train to Giverny?

Google tells me that it is 20 minutes and that the 7:51 M13 will get us there by 8. Our train tickets are printed--is that enough time? (I've never been to that station)

Thanks!

Hi

I would give myself at least 30 minutes.

You'll have to go from metro to station and find platform etc etc but if you don't know the station this could be stressful.

Another option would be to get there a bit before and have a coffe/breakfast at the fab new restaruant Lazare in the station.

It is pretty pointless to worry about a timetable for Metro lines: there is a train every few minutes. You need to be at St-Lazare by 07.50 and the journey takes 20 minutes, so get to Varenne metro station around 07.30.

For an 8:20 AM departure, the track info probably will not be posted before 8:00 AM. As Nick stated, a 7:50 AM arrival would be just about right.

Once you are in the station platforms, nothing could be simpler. There are 28 platforms and all trains to Normandy leave from the higher numbered tracks on the right.

Purchasing advance tickets for Monet's Home and Garden is recommended as well, so you can use the group entrance on arrival. The 8:20 train, then shuttle bus (hustle on arrival at the station, it's timed to train arrival and departs promptly), will get you there right around opening time. Using the group entrance, you should get to the bridges and other areas of the garden ahead of the crowd (others from the bus having to purchase tickets at the regular gate) for photo ops without people in them.

Do take time when you get off the bus to check return bus times (also timed to the trains).

If it's a nice day, consider having a leisurely lunch in Giverny before heading back to Paris.

Going to Gare St-Lazare, it's always better to allow more time than less, as trains to Vernon do not depart frequently.

And, once there, you need a few minutes to orient yourself, perhaps purchase a bottle of water, coffee, for the ride.
