Gard de Nord to Gare Montparnasse - With luggge and 1 yo

Hi all, just looking for a recommendation from the knowledgeable folks here.

Travelling from London to Paris and then heading straight onto Rennes for a couple of days travelling around Brittany. Was hoping to complete all the travelling in one day, and was scheduling to catch the Eurostar to Gare de Nord arv 12:45, and leaving from Gare Montparnasse at 15:12.

It probably won't take that long to travel between the two stations but I have two quick questions

- I was planning to catch a taxi to Gare Montparnasse, but I know the Metro is also an option, however not sure how viable it is with suitcases, carry on and a toddler to carry. With Parisian traffic, does this break between trains give us enough time to travel via taxi & grab a bite to eat before the train to Rennes?

- Given we'll spend all morning on the eurostar and all afternoon on the TGV, we'll need to break and have lunch somewhere. Does Gare Montparnasse have luggage lockers we may be able to take advantage off? Any recommendations about where to eat, since the Gare Montparnasse only seems to have 3 cafes to eat there?

Metro Line 4 runs from Gare du Nord to Montparnasse, but I think it is a long walk from the Line 4 platforms to the main line station at the Montparnasse end. Take a taxi: you have plenty of time.

There is luggage storage at both stations.

Definitely take a taxi.

There are plenty of places within the station for a quick bite and/or to collect snacks, beverages, etc., for the train ride.

Or, specify the rue du Depart side of the station when instructing the taxi driver. Opposite that side of the station is lined with all sorts of cafes, restaurants. Look for the neon green cross - with escalators up to the main level of the train station after lunch.

It would probably be more trouble (and also time consuming) to store your bags than haul them to lunch with you. Due to their proximity to the station, all the eateries are used to people with bags.

One of our favorite spots across from the station

but, there are plenty of others in both directions.

Menus/prices are posted everywhere for choosing an appealing spot.

Don't take the Metro....it is one hell of a walk, up stairs, escalators, travelators, fine if is just you but not with luggage and a one year old.

Yes not much in the way of eats and seats in the station proper.

Don't forget to purchase snacks, sandwiches, and drinks at the station for the TGV trip. A nice bottle of wine to accompany snacks is perfectly OK on the TGV.
