Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I can tell you a bit about this agency. I attempted to book an apartment early in my search late summer for travel in Oct./Nov. with Paris Perfect. After some initial contacts and emails I decided on an apartment but the agent mentioned she would have to verify availability as another agency actually managed this apartment. She explained that this is the case with some of their apartments. She gave me the name of the agency (not sure she really meant to do that) and it is Home-town. I pulled up the property on their site and there it was...actually Paris Perfect was having a sale so I wanted to continue the booking with them. But I could never get a return call or anyone to take credit card info etc. I actually had communication after about a week of waiting for PP directly with Home-town and explained the situation. They could not take the booking from me at that point because of their relationship with PP. After the whole deal I ended up booking with another agency and learned that I prefer to book an apartment where the agency has an "exclusive" relationship...they control the calendar etc. I found Home-Town very responsive via email and they seem to have some nice properties. Check to see if what you want may be on other sites too? I was told by Paris Perfect that they trust this company and for whatever that is worth? For me too many middlemen. Long answer to your question is I think they are reputable but probably don't deal directly with US renters very often . If you have other questions please ask. I know my story is confusing.

Hello Lisa,

I was wondering if you booked with Home Town?? I have just booked an apartment in Paris with them and so far so good. I will mention that the apartment I booked was $120 Au a night cheeper than another booking site for the identical apartment and dates.

I hope all went well with you.

Regards, Fiona

Peninsula65...just curious if the other higher priced agency was Paris Perfect? I think Home-town is a good find and priced better because they are not middlemen but the ones servicing the apartment...also they are not catering to the US market which can raise the prices.

Hi Gene,

No, it was Time and Place agency, a very nice site and very quick to respond but I had already communicated with HT and their price was advertised a lot cheeper. I think you must be right regarding the middleman thing, but what a difference in price over 4 nights, I saved myself $480. I was desperate to get a quality short stay and they are hard to come by, thats why I emailed both incase one didn't get back to me. I also like the fact that both sites offer shorter term stays as I think Paris Perfect's minimum booking is 7 days.

Have found a Paris apt on Hometown Paris's website that I'm very interested in too, but not much info about them on the site. Did you book thru them and was your experience good? Has anyone actually booked and stayed at one of their listings? Thanks.

Hi Jacdhaa,

I have completed my booking with Hometown and the whole process was very professional with a very detailed booking system and good follow up from the staff. The booking is not until July so I can't report on the final stage ( the most important) but I am very happy to date. The only thing I would say which is very minor is that when sending my final email with arrival and departure details ( so they can arrange a meeting time to show the apartment) I didn't get a email to confirm and finalise which I would have liked.

Fiona, not to be argumentative, but really...anyone can "professionally" book an apartment. Even the most basic scam artist.

The time to do a review is after you stay in the apartment and a really useful review will be if there's a problem with it.

Do come back and let us know how it goes.

Hi Jacdhaa,

Thank you, glad to help.

For what it's worth I did a bit more research myself and whilst I didn't find a lot I did a search on Ludovic Michel the manager of the agency I have had some correspondence with. I found only two negative reports linked to him managing through a different agency some years ago but otherwise positive reviews. The agency is Escalea. I also googled the address of the office on my terms and conditions and came across SPLM which is "a group of professional rental agencies mainly based in Paris who felt a need to work together toward establishing common business practices and ideals for the betterment of the vacation rental industry in France and in particular in Paris." I have left you the link below so you can read the rest of their statement. Home Town is part of that group which follows back to Gene's original comment, so I feel I can at least say they are not scammers and are a genuine agency. I guess the final judgement will be when one of us actually stays in their apartment.

Good luck!

Nice research Peninsula...I agree that they are reliable and given the reputation that Paris Perfect has (at least with some) and the prices they charge (which means high expectations for their clients) they no doubt provide good on the ground service. I remember very well when the PP gal told me that this property was managed by another company and they would have to get the availability from them (Home-Town) and then when I asked she gave me the name....and I thought I doubt if her boss will be happy that she did that. Let's put it t his way...if I am in the market for an apartment in the future I would check with them and feel very confident. Very little exposure here in US but probably used by other companies besides PP. For me anytime you by pass the middleman you are usually getting better price and service.
