March in Paris

We are arriving on March 2nd and will spend 4 days in Paris. We want to see the usual attractions plus want to eat great food. A couple of questions.

1. What is the weather like in early March? Do we need Winter Coats? Rainy? Snow?

2. I see a lot of companies advertising "Skip the Line" tour for Eiffel Tower, Lu, etc. Are they worth it? Does one actually get to skip the long lines or is it merely something like we are handed tickets so we don't have to stand in line to buy tickets but will still have to stand in line to enter the tower itself? How about similar thing for the Lu?

Once such company that advertises this is this one.

Worth the money?

3. We also want to go to Normandy and visit the Omaha Beach, etc. What is the best way to do it from Paris?

Thanks.

Every season is nice in Paris. Really.

The weather is very very unpredictable You should pack with layers, sweaters, a scarf, walking shoes and boots. Check the weather forecast right before you leave to see if you need a raincoat. March may be rainy but may be sunny for four days. Likely chilly.

If I only had four days in paris I would not go to Normandy.

Easy pass tours...you do skip all lines...we found it worthwhile as lines were very long when we were there.

You can purchase skip the line tickets directly from the Eiffel Tower website. They go on sale approximately 3 months in advance: http://www.tour-eiffel.fr/

You can buy Eiffel Tower tickets online 3 mths in advance to avoid queuing.

What is Lu?

Last May I saw winter jackets and hats - it was quite cold.

I wouldn't give up a day in Paris for Normandy, especially in March.

Do skip all lines? That means we get to walk right in without waiting anywhere? I did check the tickets to summit for Eiffel tower on that site. If I were to buy those, we get to go straight up without waiting anywhere in any line?

There may be a short wait for the next elevator. But you will avoid the long ticket lines.

What's Lu? Do you mean the Louvre?

OK. Then I will buy tickets from that site. I did mean Louvre. Is there a way to skip lines there as well? Thanks.

The ticket is timed and you walk right through.

The disadvantage is- the weather may not be great (rain, wind) - ticket is not exchangeable.

Thanks. Just bought tickets for March 3rd at 3 PM. They are almost completely sold out for the whole week!!

If weather doesn't cooperate, I will lose 27 euros I guess. How about something similar for the Louvre?

There is not a skip-the-line for the Louvre, because the line is for security and everyone has to go through security. But I highly doubt the security lines to get in will be a problem at all. In August when I went, there was no line at all. In July, at the peak of tourist season, I waited maybe 10 minutes. Not a problem.
