Plaisance metro

Happy 2014 to fellow trip advisors !!

Hi, we will go to Paris and may stay on rue Didot, near Plaisance metro. Like to know is that area within the scope which we can use the Paris metro pass ? Is that near Montparnasse Building or Luxemburg Garden.

Like to have rough idea of how far away from centre.

Thanks.

If you are referring to the Paris Visite Pass, this is generally poor value. For travel within central Paris, you would usually do better to get a carnet of 10 ordinary metro/bus tickets.

All the Metro stations are counted as being in zone 1, as are the RER stations within the Peripherique ring road.

If you put the hotel's address into maps.google.com you can see exactly where it is and locate it on the maps of Paris in your guide book.

Please read carefully the second paragraph of my previous post: "All metro stations are counted as being in zone 1".

Anyway, Plaisance IS in zone 1 since it is in the 14th arrondissement.

Rue Didot is in a pleasant area in the XIV arrondissement. Plaisance is on line 13 and takes you to Montparnasse Bienvenüe in a couple of stops

To learn how to get around Paris by métro/bus/RER use www.ratp.fr. Here is a link to a route planner:

ratp.fr/itineraires/en/ratp/recherche-avancee

Here is an interactive map of the system. It will show you all the zones of the transport system:

www.ratp.fr/plan-interactif/carteidf.php…

Since parts of this website are only in French you can also use www.transilien.com or www.vianavigo.com. Via Navigo probably has the most complete English website. A good website to learn how to use public transport in Paris is www.parisbytrain.com.

Buy a good detailed map of Paris of around the scale 1:12,000 and it will show all streets and street names, museums, monuments, gardens, parks, sites, attractions and the location of all RER and métro stops. A handy booklet to buy is called ''Plan de Paris par Arrondissement, L'Indispensable''. It is available in the Relay bookstores you'll find in the main line train stations and RER stations. It can be bought in many other places as well.

You can figure out walking times and distances between sites by using a mapping website like www.mappy.com or a similar website.
