Taxi fares

We are off to Paris in February, travelling by Eurostar. Is there a marshall on the taxi rank there? I have noticed on the hotel website that taxi transfers from the hotel (hotel warwick) are 90 euros. This seems a lot of money for a 2km ride?

Eurostar arrives at Gare du Nord - - a taxi to the hotel should not cost more than 20 euro, and probably closer to 15. There is a small fee per bag, and extra charge over 3 passengers.

I think the rate quoted by the hotel website is for a private transfer arranged by the hotel. I'm guessing that a taxi from the official taxi rank at Gare du Nord would be about 20 euros.

And to answer the other part of your question, yes there is usually a marshall and that person usually speaks some English. There can be quite a queue when a Eurostar trains arrives, but the queue moves quickly. As has been said many times of this forum, if you are not confident in your French, it's good to have the name and address of your hotel on a piece of paper to show the marshall/driver. Enjoy!

And there are lots of non-official taxi drivers attempting to get you into their cars and away from the official queue (they'll even point you in the wrong direction from the queue) so just follow the signs to the real taxi ranks. There's usually more than one officiant at the taxi ranks and they run it in a very orderly fashion (but the unofficial taxi people still keep coming up and making promises of lower rates...)
