Travel around Paris area, tolls etc

We are thinking of flying into CDG and then traveling down to Orleans to an apartment for a week in October. We would like to visit the zoo in Beauval, travel to Paris for the day and possibly visit Nantes for a day.

My question is, is this possible using public transport or should we rent a car?

If we do rent a car are there toll charges to pay and what sort of cost can we expect?

Also, we are thinking of Orleans because if is between Paris and the zoo, is there anywhere else that someone could suggest? We are looking to avoid the busyness and cost of Paris but still be close enough for a visit.

Many Thanks

So you're asking if you can get to Orleans to Paris by public transport? Yes. There are frequent trains from Gare Austerlitz. About every hour or so. I would not rent a car to drive into Paris.

Orléans to Nantes is a very long way for a day trip by car. For route & toll information by car see www.viamichelin.com
