Mum in a wheelchair..help with a dream!

Hello, We would like to take my mum, who has been very ill and is currently quite disabled, in a wheelchair, to Paris for a night. She has been housebound for quite some time as she cannot walk more than a few metres, but has dreams of going to Paris..a place she visited a lot in her younger days. She is very keen to return to the Sacre Couer ..is this possible in a wheelchair..my memories from years ago involved lots of steps..and can anyone recommend a hotel or B & B and tell me how best to travel round. (always used the Metro but again not sure with a wheelchair). We will be paying and can't afford to break the bank, but would love to give her something to look forward to. Many thanks in advance.

Here's a site that should help you out: montmartre-guide.com/handi/accessibility-dis…

The website for the Basilica itself says to access it take the elevator at 35, rue dud Chevalier de la Barre. Entrance to the basilica is free for handicapped persons.

You don't want to use the métro; the buses are equipped to handle wheelchairs. And there are taxis tha can handle a wheelchair too.

Good luck!

Thanks that is really helpful..looks like the Sacre Coeur has access with ramp and lift..can anyone confirm that? (Also notice she can go to the museum of Erotica...put it to her, but she says at nearing 70 she is past all that!).

And yes, you'll have to stick to buses to get around.

Buses and taxis( and taxis are not allowed to charge you for putting a wheelchair in the trunk btw)

Good for you for trying to make your moms dream visit come true. You will rarely regret the things you have done.. but may regret the things you didn't do.. best wishes.
