Paris to Rome flight?

I will be going from Paris to Rome this September. Obviously flying is the best/quickest way to go. Just wondering which airline would be the best to go with? And what sort of price I would be looking at? Thanks a lot!

There is not all that much difference between the short-haul airlines in Europe. Use www.skyscanner.net to identify the possibilities, then book direct with the airline of your choice.

Bear in mind that, as in Australia, the cheap airlines charge extra for luggage and food, and may have quite small limits on luggage weight. Read the T&C before you book.

Don't book a flight that uses "Paris" Beauvais airport. Beauvais is 75 km from Paris, and the only useful transport link is a bus that leaves from Porte Maillot.

I have used both Vueling and Easyjet -- both are great and their luggage limits are not tight -- BUT they are exacting. You must not exceed the size and number of carry on (Easyjet has no weight limit on that, just a strict but generous size limit -- but it is smaller than a traditional US rollerboard carry on) You pay extra for the checked bag when buying the ticket. It is a lot more at check in if you don't. Exceeding check in weight is also very costly. And if you buy an 'extra bag' that does not give you extra weight. The baggage rules are very clear on the web sites of those airlines. You also must check in and get boarding passes on line, which can be done well in advance. Not doing that is also costly.

We've done the CDG to FCO trip a couple of times in recent years and ended up using both Air France and Alitalia. We checked one bag each and had one carry-on each; however, we're Gold/Platinum flyers and don't pay extra for a checked bag or a carry-on, and the cost was between $150-$185 round trip each, direct/non-stop. As noted above, using Skyscanner will help you with your selection. Best of luck and have a great trip.

Thanks for the information everyone! I think we are going to fly with Vueling. Only thing I'm a bit worried about is the 23kg luggage limit as we have a 30kg limit for our flight from Australia.

you really really don't want to be lugging more than 23 kilo around Europe -- that is already a very heavy bag

we did 3 mos in Europe across two seasons thus requiring a coat which we packed in the bag and were able to meet Easyjet's 20 kg baggage limit. (we did take advantage of their no weight limit carry on rule to carry on some of our very heavy things like books and cameras and computers.
