Metro 1 day pass or taxi

Our family of four will have an 11+ hr. lay over in Paris from 8:45 am- 8:15 PM en route to Africa. We are planning to visit the Catacomb and then rent a bike to explore Paris for the 3rd time, take the River Cruise and climbed up the Eiffel Tower. Since my kids are only 11 and 13 we can't use the Velib, right? Any suggestion which bike rental company should we go? Is it easy to find parkings to these bikes? Also, is it more advisable to take a 1 day Metro Pass as compared to taking taxis? Thank You in advance.

In order to advise, we need some details. Do you land at (which airport?) at 8:45am or is that the time you think you'll get to the center of Paris? Also, is your onward flight at 8:15pm? These details matter. You may not have as much time as you think.

Generally, the later you get to the Catacombs, the longer the line. It can be two hours or more standing in line by mid-morning.

I cannot imagine you can do all that in an 11 hour layover and still get back in time to guarantee making the flight. At least 4 hours is eaten up by landing logistics and transport to and from Paris -- and that is conservative and you need to be back to the airport at least 2 hours before the ongoing flight so of 11 hours that would leave you 5 hours. That is time to do something but not wait 2 hours to go through the catacombs (another hour under) take an hour cruise on the river and bike around town and climb the Eiffel Tower.

That itinerary would be a very full day if you were staying in Paris.

As Janet mentioned 11 hrs layover leaves ~ 5-6 hours on ground. For international flight beyond EU you have to be back at CDG (you didn't mention which airport) 3 hrs. before. With your luggage checked all the way through you may cut another 1/2 hr.

Since you're going to be after overnight flight and jetlagged - Catacombs are not good choice. Queuing can take all your time. Better stay outside in the sun.

Mobilis- one day pass even 1-5 zone is not valid for airports transit. For all 4 of you cost of Taxi to / from the city would be about the same as train tickets.

Thank You. We decided to go straight to the catacombs via taxi from CDG.

Thank You. I just realized that. We are not going up to the Eiffel Tower again. We did both Day and Night already.

We are coming from St. Petersburg, a 1+ hr. flight so no jet lag. Catacomb is top priority bec. that's what the kids wanna do that we missed in 2012. After we might just play it by ear but i really wanna ride a bike around Paris. Thank You so much for all the replies.
