RER or Roissy Bus into city from CDG?

We are coming off the TGV at 4:30PM on a Mon. arriving at CDG. We are staying at the CDG Ibis hotel for a night before our early flight the next morning. All my husband wants to do is photograph the Eiffel Tower and Notre Dame . We plan on ditching our luggage at the hotel and heading right out for Paris. Would the RER or bus be best? Would the bus stop be nearer to the hotel than going back to the airport RER station? And one last question, what stop should we get off at for Notre Dame and/ or Eiffel Tower? Your advice will be appreciated!

Without luggage I'd take RER.

It is simpler and faster and connects to metro.

You'll be on line B so you can change at Chatelet, from there go to see ND, then take RER C to champs de mars Eifel - google and download a map of the metro it helps.

From Chatelet to CDG count about 40 min of travel time.

Take the RER B to Saint Michel-Notre Dame, which is direct. There is even an exit at the end of the train that brings you up three escalators and leaves you right in front of Notre Dame.

To get to the Eiffel Tower after that, just cross the Seine to the Left Bank and take the RER C to the Effiel Tower. It is direct as well.

yes

but once inside the city you can travel with metro tickets, even on RER.

From CDG to Notre Dame it will costs you >10 €, metro tickets are about 1,2 if you buy bundle of 10.
