Low cost hotel on the outskirts of Paris.

We will be traveling to Paris in October for about a week stay. Trying to save some money by staying outside the main Paris area. Needs to be close to the Metro for easy access to downtown area. Would like to pay under $100/night. Anyone have good hotel recommendations or have a likely area to look in?

You will save no money at all if you are not near a métro station so be careful about hotels outside of Paris. Finding a hotel room for 2 anywhere near Paris for under 75€, I assume you are two people, will be a challenge and October is a very busy month for hotels.

Here are three hotels, centrally located in Paris which I would consider:

How many people? Just so you know $100 USD, is only about 73€.

Here is a hotel I just walked past the other day and it look quite nice.

The location is in the 14th with good bus/métro connections. Check the reviews on line and book early as they only have 18 rooms

Try the Ibis Budget on avenue Jean Jaurès, métro Laumière.

It has 292 rooms.

there are a bunch of budget hotels: Ibis, Mr. Bed etc near the end of the 3 metro line at Galieni. The metro stop is right at a mall with grocery store, McDonalds, a Paul bakery shop etc. Not a lovely part of town but I suspect pretty cheap and right on the metro line. Mr. Bed shows doubles for 71 in October.

I have no idea if the hotel is livable, bearable etc It is a cheap chain near a metro stop and near sources of cheap food.

I'd rather avoid the 'portes'. i've slept at a few, and it is usually not that nice...

just look on sites like otel.com or booking and allow for a miss...

I've tried a lot about 20 hotels below or at 85€ (most on deals). I can only really recommend one, hotel du pré in 9 arrondissement. Now I upped my budget to around 100 € and I sleep a lot better.

If you want to stay at your budget, I'd recommend to split your stay - you'll minimize the risk of spending all of your stay in a crabby hotel.

Ah, the price I indicate are without breakfast - avoid those in hotels as a rule if you're on a budget and eat in a café.

The Accor chain of hotels (Ibis, Mercure etc) has a good website where you can view all the hotels on a map - sometimes the higher end Accor Hotels (Mercure, Novotel etc) are cheaper than the budget ones (Ibis etc).

Well Happy,

don't forget I'm just a frenchspeaking, so my choice of words can from time to time not be fully adequate.

However, thre word appealed to me - maybe shabby is more appropriate ?
