Pre-Prepared Meals?

Hello,

We are staying on Rue de Clery, between Sentier and Saint Denis stations. We are renting an apartment and would like to eat in as often as possible but don't want to spend a lot of time cooking. Can anyone recommend markets that offer prepared meals that can be thrown in the oven or require little preparation?

Thank you for any suggestions!

Rue Montorgueil is about a 5 minute walk away. There you will find cheese shops, and a number of places that sell prepared foods like roasted chickens, etc.

I haven't tried them yet, but there is a chain of stores that sells frozen meals and it's reputed to be very high quality. The chain is Picard. It looks like there is one near the Strasbourg-St Denis stop

Picard sells very high quality frozen foods, but there are some clunkers in their offerings too. The stuff they sell as ingredients is excellent. Some of the prepared foods, not so much.

For sure, try a rotisserie chicken with potatoes cooked in the drippings. Ooh La La...Delish!

If you want something more than just "Stouffer's" or "Lean Cuisine" type food, look for "traiteurs".

In your neighborhood, there are a few of them on rue Reamur. Also, type your address into the Google Search Bar then click on the map that appears. Click on "search nearby" and enter "traiteurs", "epiceries", "supermarches", "fromageries", "boucheries" - or anything else that suits your fancy.

You'll likely pass several of them through the day, very close to your apartment. If you know to look for them, they're everywhere.

Not next door but easily reached via line 4 of Metro (from Strasbourg SD to Vavin, right at the metro exit) is Gilles Vérot, an absolutely outstanding traiteur. He is the provider of the Boulud empire in NYC, among many: timeout.com/newyork/food-drink/artisan-in-re…

One more question: is there a good place nearby to get wine? Thanks again!

I just buy wine at the grocery store. Plenty of choices. I usually spend in the 4-7 euro range and have rarely been disappointed.

Wine shops on rue Montorguei. This street will probably become part of your daily routine.
