My daughter's graduation present is this trip, 5d each in Paris and London. Neither of us has been before. I've read a TON on here and really appreciate everyone. Despite reading all the "make sure you don't overschedule..." well, I'm always worried we'll sit around saying "I don't know, what do you want to do?" Only the things with an * are actually booked and paid for. So...here goes:
- Arrive from Florida at 11am into CDG; take RER to Cluny-St. Germain and walk to Hotel de Suez on Blvd Saint Michel
- buy 4d museum pass at Cluny
- relax, try to stay awake, maybe walk around a bit in nearby Luxembourg Gardens
buy tix for Sainte Chappelle concert that night
*10a-2p Paris along the Seine walking tour
maybe see Eiffel tower (no tix, is there a line to walk up to the 2nd level?)
and Arc de Triomphe
Trocadero gardens maybe for picnic dinner
*7p-11p Blue Bike Tours night time tour of monuments
930a d'Orsay, then Orangerie, then Louvre via Tuileries (maybe lunch there)
2pm Louvre highlights tour if we can get tix at the tour desk
anytime after 1:30pm *vedettes du Pont-Neuf (Seine cruise for 1h)
8:30p Sainte Chappelle concert
Versailles??? in the am
Notre Dame and climb the tower (hopefully, since we're not getting to the top of Eiffel)
Ile Saint-Louis for gelato
Sacre Coeur for sunset (~945p) - will take metro but would like to walk around a little. Is that safe late in the evening? Are artists still out?
7/22 Get Eurostar at 11:15am to head to London
We are not art people, or foodies, or into fashion, or music, or big shoppers - sound kinda boring I guess, so we won't spend hours and hours on any major activity.
There are many other things I wanted to see, Organ music at Saint Sulpice, Mass at Notre Dame (we're Catholic), sculptures in Rodin. Hopefully somewhere in there we'll walk over a cool bridge?
Thoughts? missing anything important? Stuff you'd skip? I'd probably skip Versailles but I think my daughter really wants to see it. Should we do this on our own (with RER)? or take a tour? The scooter tour looked cool but $$$.
Thanks for any help or suggestions you can provide!
