If you use one at home, no problem talking it with you. My mom uses a four-wheel walker, one with a seat, and it has gone on two trips to France with her. We have not seen many being used there, but people showed a lot of interest in it and we did see some in medical supply stores. We are usually able check it at the gate when boarding the plane, at least from the US. We had to check it at check-in in London when flying British Air. On Air France direct to CDG we checked it at the gate, but had to pick it up at baggage claim. We always arrange for her to get a wheel chair at the airport while I push her walker and carry-ons.

it took a while but finally found the french name; it is called a déambulateurs. found this site but only looks like sales. http://www.prevenchute.com/deambulateurs.htm then got this one where it look like they rent. they call it a walking frame http://tinyurl.com/obc8asv
