Need advise Staying 1 NIGHT in hotel

My husband, 4-year old daughter and I are going to Paris for 5 days staying with a friend, and then we go Italy for 10 days but come back to Paris for 1 night because we fly out from there. I want to stay in a hotel for 1 night but can't decide where would be best since leaving the next day. I thought about staying near the airport but I think that would be boring since we get in to Paris in the late afternoon and don't leave the next day till early afternoon.... I worry about getting to the airport the next day but from what I gather here taking the RER seems easy and cheap enough..... I wanted a hotel that is nice and in french style , not too expensive, but possibly had shuttle service if we need it..... I read good review about Au Hotel Grande Francais but it's in the 11th. Any good ideas or recommendations????

Thanks!

But the 11th is on the 'right' side of Paris if you're looking for a hotel that has a shuttle service to take you to the airport.

You can arrange for an airport shuttle service out to CDG from ANY hotel ANYWHERE in central Paris with no difficulty.

Given your compressed time frame and desire to spend as much time as possible in the 'PARIS' that you came to visit, and be conveniently situated to the RER B-3 ligne transfer out to CDG, I'd suggest that you look for hotels in the upper portions of the 5th-Latin Quarter and 6th-Saint Germain des Pres. There is a relatively large inventory of good, moderately priced, 2 & 3-stars in this immediate vicinity. A few (among many) that I can highly recommend for your purpose (cross-reference these--or any--hotel recommendations you receive to the past-guest hotel reviews and comments on this site) are:

HOTEL des GRANDES ECOLES (3-star) 75 rue de Cardinal Lemoine, 75006, Metro: Cardinal Lemoine--RER B ligne--Saint Michel-Notre Dame

HOTEL FAMILIA (2-star) 11 rue des Ecoles, 75005, Metro: Maubert-Mutualite--RER B ligne--Saint Michel-Notre Dame

http://www.hotel-paris-familia.com/

HOTEL de SAINT GERMAIN (2-star) 50 rue du Four, 75006, Metro: Saint Sulpice & Saint Germain des Pres--RER B ligne--Saint Michel-Notre Dame & Luxembourg

GRAND HOTEL des BALCONS (2-star) 3 rue Casamir Delavigne, 75006, Metro: Odeon--RER B-3--Luxembourg

WELCOME HOTEL (2-star) 66 rue de Seine & Blvd. Saint Germain, 75006, Metro: Mabillon--RER B-ligne--Saint Michel-Notre Dame--

http://www.welcomehotel-paris.com/index.html

And this quirky little 0-star in an absolutely GREAT location. By "..quirky..", I don't mean to negatively imply that this isn't a wonderful little hotel...it's just 'quirky' and almost a 'throw back' to another time.

HOTEL de NESTLE (0-star) 7 rue de Nesle, 75006, Metro: Odeon, Saint Michel & Pont Neuf--RER B-ligne--Saint Michel-Notre Dame--

It can certainly be said that you can find 2 & 3 star hotels in other neighborhoods of Paris for less but few (if any) are going to provide you with the imediate/convenient access to so many sites, attractions, restaurants, cafes, shopping--most within easy strolling/walking distances of your hotel lobby and the RER B-ligne as an airport transfer option. If you have to pay a few Euro more, what you are 'buying' with those few Euros is GREAT LOCATION !!!

We stayed at the Hotel De Suez last month. It's in the 5th right on Boulevard St. Michel and the RER stop is very very close. The people were lovely, our room was huge by French standards, breakfast was good. www.hoteldesuez.fr tel 33 (0)1 53 34 00 fax 33 (0)1 40 51 79 44. Cost was 95 Euros last month. We got there by RER from Charles de Gaulle - we got off at Luxembourg. The gardens are right there, as well as lots of cafes, shops, etc.
