Paris Museum Pass and Things to see

Our family (2 adults and 2 teenage sons) are visiting Paris in late March. We are planning to see: Notre Dame; Deportation Memorial; Louvre; Sacre Couer/Montmarte; Arc de Triomphe; Orsay; and a day trip to Versailles (we also want to do a Paris Walk, see one of the street markets on Saturday morning and leave a little time for just some shopping or cafe sitting!)

We arrive on a Thursday morning and stay to the Monday morning (early departure.) so we have basically 3 1/2 days. We will be there on the first Sunday of the month (which I did read is free admission to museums) but cannot decide if to invest in a museum pass (2 day or 4 day) to avoid the lines.

Can anyone give me any advice as to whether or not it is worth investing in a museum pass?

Thanks!

i would recommend the pass. When you consider the overall cost of your trip, the benefit of not waiting in line will more than offset any possible savings. Your teenage sons may be interested in the military museum at Les Invalides combined with the Dome which contains Napoleon's tomb. Also when you are at Versailles there is a nice restaurant in the gardens next to the canal that is a good place to eat lunch, surrounded by the beautiful gardens. If you have time walk back to the Grand Trianon, the Petit Trianon, and Marie Antoinette's peasant village.Have a great time!

We're taking our teen grandsons to Paris (and Rome) in mid-March, and during some research, I found that most places in Paris are free to anyone under 18. So I would recommend not to buy passes for them, just for yourselves if you decide to do so. Check this site out for more information: www.parismuseumpass.fr/flash/hp_fr.html

The previous poster is right. We brought our 16 year old over the Thanksgiving Holiday in November 2006. We had museum passes and he skipped the lines with us. All I had to do was tell them his age. I said it in French and they waived us through. Worked wonderfully. He got into the Louvre, Versailles, the l"Orangerie, Rodin, Napoleon's Tomb, Orsay.

When you pass all those poor folks waiting in line, you will be SO happy you got that Museum Pass! It makes you feel like VIP!

For the time you save in line, it's worth it for sure.

Thanks for everyone's advice. Was tempted to get the museum pass as waiting in line for ages would not sit well with my sons (or my husband!) Will go ahead and order it.

Thanks!

You can just buy themwhen you get there. We bought ours at the underground shoppping mall at the Louvre. No line to get in and no line to buy them.. It is something to think about. We bought them at a Tabac there. There are signs telling you where they are sold.
