French Barge-Le Boat

In doing research into a 2014 barge vacation I had originally thought Le Boat would be the best outfitter given their size and the number of routes from which to choose. However, there have been a number of posts indicating Le Boat's reputation has suffered as a result of lack of maintenance on their fleet. Is this still the case? I would appreciate any insight the board can offer.

Thank you!

I can highly recommend Minervois cruisers a family run business from Napton England, very sincere, friendly and very helpful from the beginning of your cruise. The staff at the bases all speak English, I have cruised on The Canal du Midi five times with this company and every cruise was great. I have met fellow cruisers on the Canal du Midi who complained of Crown Blue line, Connoisseur/ LeSoat now. A lot of their boats look great on the phots but are really old. and there service is bad. A book I can recommend is Guide Fluvial Waterways guide/ Edition Du Briel Section Midi Camargue

We have used Le Boat or their predecessors in various parts of France and have never had a problem. They do not have anything that looks like a traditional barge though, for something that looks more traditional you will want to look for a 'pinechette'.
