Montpellier

Hi flying to Montpellier mid May collecting hire car planning on heading towards Perpignan and ending up last few days in Montpellier where should we visit in between we are 40's 50's like good food and wine like the coast but would like to explore inland any where we shouldn't miss ?

The area is the single biggest wine-producing region in the world - there should be no shortage of wine. Wonder who is going to do the driving ;)

Pezenas is a lovely place to visit on your way to or from Montpellier the Saturday market is worth a visit. There is a great new boutique hotel there called La Distillerie.

narbonne has a good sunday morning market and is also worth a visit.

Good food & wine boutique funky hotel at the coast or inland,things going on, not too isolated :)

It is a low key area, boutique funky hotels are not really the order of the day. I suggest you consider Collioure.

Why don't you do the Gourmet Walking tour of Sète ? It is a unique way to discover the colorful fishing town, its canals, sandy beaches while sampling fine food , wine, meeting merchants in shops and at the market. .
