Best way to get to Montpellier

We are considering travelling to Montpellier for a 3 week French course. What is the most economical way to travel there from Bangkok? And has anyone heard of the Institute Linguisitique Adenet school? Is that a good school to study French?

You will probably have to fly to Paris then take a train from there to Montpellier. The first part of the trip is not a question for this forum.

High Speed trains run between Paris Charles de Gaulle airport and Montpellier, taking about four hours. For that information see http://en.voyages-sncf.com/en/ or www.capitainetrain.com but be aware you can only check schedules for specific dates a maximum of 3 months in advance. Reservations are compulsory and can be made a maximum of 3 months in advance. The cheapest fares sell out quickly, so if your travel dates are fixed book tickets at the first opportunity.

if you can find a flight from Bangkok to somewhere nearer Montpellier, then the same two railway sites can get you there.

There may be connecting flights from CDG to Montpellier or other Paris airports but in the latter case I would take the train instead if the times are suitable as the airports of Paris are a long distance from each other.

There is no bus service between Paris and Montpellier so the only other means is to hire a car and drive all day.

There are flights to Montpellier both from CDG and Orly. From CDG with Air France they are rather frequent. Depending on which airline you fly from Bangkok, you may be able to get a through ticket all the way to Montpellier.

There are direct high speed trains CDG-Montpellier

There no intercontinental links to Montpellier.

Check out AF Paris - Montpellier.

If you want a low cost solution ....

Fly into an EU city with low cost links to Languedoc.

Good advice but have a look on Skyscanner.net.

For a one way fare from Bangkok to Montpelier they have a number of one way fares from £416. See - skyscanner.net/transport/…

Thanks for all the advise. I have managed to secure a reasonably priced flight from Bangkok to Paris and now waiting until next month before I can book the high speed train. Seems no booking is allowed since I am going only in May.

Train tickets go on sale 3 months before travel, so tickets for May will become available during February.

The A75 route is prettier and quieter, but the A6 is faster.

Reckon on 6hrs driving, so not really worth stopping overnight.
