Classic French films set in Nimes and Bouches du Rhône

My wife and I have hired an apartment in Nimes for a week. It has a dvd player and seems a good opportunity to catch up with a couple of classic French movies. Does anyone know of any set in the general area?

Gooooogle found a couple

Althouh not in French, the Jason Statham film "The Transporter" is set in the general area, it is quite decent for an action movie.

The Truffaut film "Les Mistons" is set in Nimes, including the Arena.

Yes, they are all listed on the wiki link I gave (that is not "live" I see) however, not hard to copy it, paste into your browser address bar and get to the list!

Happy hunting....

Jean de Florette, Manon des Sources were filmed nearby. The rural parts were near Sauve, the market Scenes were Sommieres market.

Many thanks for these suggestions. Diz and mpprh, I was wondering whether to take dvds of Jean de Florette and Manon des Sources with me. I've not seen them since they came out and you've definitely decided me to see them again.

Essexwanderer, thanks for that extraordinary list. What did you ask Google? I tried but got nowhere. Though I did find this which I found useful:

Marcel Pagnol apparently wrote Manon des sources, La Gloire de Mon Père, Les souvenirs d’Enfance, etc at Domaine de l’Etoile by La Gaude, a perched village , in the Alpes maritimes close to Nice.

Drat! And there was me thinking you knew some secret site which gave all the locations of films made in different countries...

Cheers, Mike
