baccarat, fr WW One

My wife and I will be staying in Strasbourg for a few days, touring by car. Being we will be in the area, I was wondering if anyone had any knowledge of a WW One memorial to some soldiers killed in action their, from the 69th New York National Guard. I think it was called the 165 Inf. regiment then. Our son is a Captain with the regiment and a plain cloths anti crime police officer with NYPD. I would like to stop to get some photo's, if anything is there. Thank you

I think the soldiers you refer to were part of the 168th Infantry, known as the Rainbow Division.

In the centre of Strasbourg, there is a memorial and the link to that one is here:-

Yes, I think you are right, 168th. Its an old regiment from the civil war that Gen. Robert E. Lee (southern) nicknamed the Fighting69th, part of the Irish brigade.

President Kennedy changed it back to the 69th New york.

Thank you
