Could anyone advise me on my trip in September 2010

My wife and I would like to tavel to Lille by car, stay one or two nights and park the car for a few days.

As we intend to travel to Milan and Venice by Train.

Any tips on this trip, also car parking a secure car park in Lille or surrounding places near the Train Station.

A couple of questions.

Which hotel have you chosen in Lille for the initial one or two night stay?

Will you be staying in a hotel in Lille on your return from Italy?

The reason I ask is that the hotel may allow you to park your car in there secure car park while you're away for a few days but probably won't if your not returning to them.

Keith hi,

we have not chosen any hotel yet.

Yes we could stay one night before setting out to Venice by train. Then on the return leg stay one more night before heading home.

Could you recommend a hotel which would allow us to park the car for around 6 / 7 nights.

Hi,

From Lille you can take a TGV to Paris ( 1 hour - From 17 euro )

Stay a night or more in Paris

Take from Paris Gare de Lyon a TGV Artesia to Milano ( 7 hours - from 45 euro )

Stay in Milan

Take a Eurostar Italia City ( 2.35 hours - from 21 euro )

Book all trains in advance ( weeks ) to get the cheapest tickets . You can book around 90 days in advance !

Booking :

Many thanks,

We were thinking of going From Lille to Paris then on to Zurich on the Pendolino train through to Gotthard Pass on route to Milan and then on to Venice.

Where on route would you stay for overnight stops Hotels etc.

Then you can take the trains above +

Paris to Zurich by TGV Lyria

4 hours and 30 minutes - Price from 60 euro

But I have no idea how to book the train Zurich - Milan. I only know how to book the EC and IC .

Many thanks for all your kind information.

The only problem now is parking the car for around 7 days somewhere in France near to a train station for the connections into Zurich and Milan - Venice.

Hi,

The secured parkings ask about 21 euro / 24h. But 1 kilometers from the station the tariff is 15.5 euro : 24h.
