Relaxed, informal dining in Bayeux

I arrive in Bayeux on 3 June for the start of a 10-day tour of Northern France. As I will have been driving for 10 hours that day I am looking for a simple, straightforward and inexpensive evening meal though preferably something offering French cuisine. Can any locals please make a recommendation?

Many thanks.

Not a local, but did enjoy Le Petit Bistro when visiting!

I'd second Reine Mathilde. We stayed there over Easter and they have a nice outside seating area which is a real sun trap. Restaurant has a good menu and service very friendly and relaxed.

Walk up and down the main street reading the menus and take your pick.

There's certainly no shortage of places in Bayeux - our usual strategy is as the previous post - wander and look at menus, number of other clients, and the food if you can see it. If you want to book somewhere, go by the above recommendations - and trust to their judgement and your luck...

I agree, don't stress it and worry about finding the 'best' place, it don't exist. There are lots of lovely spots to find, places that have plenty of happy looking people in them always serve good food.
