H to eat on a Sunday evening....most paces seem to be closed. Any suggestions greatly appreciated!

It may not be the most interesting of places to eat in Caen but the Hotel Ibis Caen Centre's restaurant is open 7 days a week from 7pm to 10.30pm.

We had an extremely good meal there on New Years Eve a few years ago. Every other restaurant, with the exception of Chinese and Russian restaurants, were shut.

Many retaurants in Caen are concentrated in the Vaugeux and Place courtonne. The Vaugeaux is between the chateau and place Coutonne which is the marina.

You'll certainly find restaurants open on Sunday. I can cite La Mere Michele and La fringale.

Look at pagesjaunes.fr (yellow pages) and put in Restaurant and caen.

On the results is often a button 'info horrires" which wil give you the opening days and times.

In the Vaugeaux area is a bistro called "La Taverne" at 1 Ave du 6 juin. I've dined there on Sunday evenings and like their normands selections quite a lot. It's always packed with locals.

If all else fails, there are several hypermarches like Cora that are not far and are open quite a lot.
