Normandy tours from Angers

We'll be staying in Angers in August and would like to visit the American Normandy Beach Memorial. It looks like there are several half day and full day tours. Does anyone know if you can take the train from Angers to Normandy (I think Bayeux would be the Normandy station) for a tour?

Make sure you visit the Chateaux and see the Apocalypse Tapestries. They are incredible and some of the most important treasures of the middle ages. Sorry to digress, but rarely see any possts about them.

It's rather like staying in Boston and doing a day trip to the World Trade Center site - possible, but not the best use of time. Each way train trip is at least 3 hours. If you want to catch a 9.00am tour you will have to be at Angers station at 05.42, and getting back to Angers the last train leaves at 17.20. otherwise you have to spend the night en-route at Renne.

Thanks for the information! I was wondering just how far away it was.

Perhaps we'll just stick to touring the Loire River Valley.
