Chateau Thierry -good place to stay?

I'm looking for some where to stay while at a language school in Verdelot , a very small place. We wanted somewhere a little bigger but in that general area. Reims looks good but is an hour drive . So somewhere closer would be good. Any ideas? Thank you

Château-Thierry would be the nearest place of reasonable size to consider. There's also Meaux but that's a bit farther. I haven't been to Meaux but I was in Château-Thierry a few weeks ago and it seemed like a nice enough place with enough going on relative to its size and other towns in that area. You can have a look at the tourist office website if you want to learn what there is to see and do and about bars, restaurants, cafés, museums, attractions, culture etc.

When I visited a few weeks ago I was biking through the area and made a report about the towns I visited. Château-Thierry is covered at the end of the report if you want to have a look and see some photos.
