Laon in October

I'm looking for the perfect village to base myself and my husband for exploration of Picardie area with emphasis on medieval history and WWI sites (secondary). Is this village worth 2 nights stay? Should we stay on the exterior of the town or in the center? Thanks

Laon is not a village - it is a town.

On a hill dominated by a cathedral.

You are close to Reims with its medieval connections.

Perhaps a little way from some of the more famous WW1 sites but easy autoroute connections.

Stay in the centre of the town to be able to walk to restaurants - if staying a saturday you might be disturbed buy the sounding of car horns if a wedding has taken place.

Have a nice trip
