Provence in May 2008

Hi,

We are thinking about spending either the week of May 12th or the week of May 26th in the Provence area. I heard that the Cannes film festival (May 11-25) and the Monaco Grand Prix (May 22/23) will attract a lot of people. Does anyone know if this might a cause a problem getting accommodations - and in general getting around - in the Provence area as well during the week of May 12th or May 26th? Thanks for the help.

What do you specifically mean by "Provence area"?

These two events will have little to no effect on Provence and May is an excellent time to visit.

However if you are planning to go to the Côte d’Azur, the area loosely defined as from St. Tropez to Nice, then yes accommodations with be difficult to obtain at this late date.

I meant Avignon, St. Remy, Pont du Gard, Les Baux, Gordes etc... historic villages, lavender fields, wineries, etc.

Thanks Sarastro!

You will have no problems in the area of Provence you are planning to visit.

I would suggest delaying until the latter part of May as usually the weather is better but who can tell these days.

I agree with Boucheboy, the end of May/beginning of June is better and warmer. IMO it's the very best time of year to visit Provence.
