Food shopping on a Sunday afternoon...

Does anyone have a suggestion for an open market on the route between Avignon and Vaison on a late Sunday afternoon? My party of four will be driving, by rental car, from the Avignon TGV Station on a Sunday around 15:00. We are traveling to a self-catering cottage outside of Vaison la Romaine and would like to stock a few provisions for that evening and the next morning. It sounds as if most places will be closed on Sunday afternoon.

Your impression is right. In sizeable towns you would be able to find small convenience shops but you may well be limited to such supplies as yo can find arround the station you catch the TGV from. You could ask the owner of the cottage to get in real basics for you and the location of the nearest boulongerie for the next morning.

Thank you. We'll just look for something prior to leaving the Avignon area.

You won't find much open on Sunday afternoon - anywhere in this area.

You are much better off asking the owner of the rental to provide a basic basket of items (you can choose which ones you want) - pasta, ready-made pasta sauce, eggs, milk, juice, wine, butter, olive oil, bottled water, coffee, crisps, etc.

We often did this for folks arriving on a Sunday.

The road between Malaucene and Vaison often has farmer's stands set up, but on a Sunday afternoon, they may or may not be there.
