hiking, cycling-focused trip, Sept. 2014

My partner and I are planning a France trip, ideally for mid-late September.

I have spent time in Paris and Lille before, but have not ventured to other regions. I'm hoping to spend a few days hiking through the alps, either staying in some place like Chamonix or Annecy, then heading down to Provence for a few days of cycling, then finally down to the coast to spend a final few days on the beach. So overall, I'm thinking ~3 towns and a few days spent at each. Does this seem overly ambitious?

Any advice from folks who have stayed in those regions on hiking or cycling routes, shuttles or buses to nearby places, reasonably priced accommodations, etc., please advise!

Many thanks.

The Vaucluse department offers a good selection of cycling roads and maps can be found on their web site

Only in French and not as comprehensive as it used to be.

But there are for sure a lot of biker in the region an they seem to like it.

I might have some maps still in my data base and will look it up.

Hope this will help

Enjoy your stay in our region
