Food shopping near Fontvielle

We will be in Provence for three weeks. Our first stop (not counting one day in Avignon to get over jet lag), after picking up a car at the TGV station, is a house we are renting just East of Fontvielle. We are driving there from the direction of Les Baux (lunch at Oustau de Baumanier) and want to buy some provisions to tide us over until we go to local markets.

Any recommendations (BTW it's the last Saturday in May)?

There's a Spar and an Intermarche in St Remy.

Datthecoast, thanks for that, I'll keep them in mind. However, I can't buy provisions before lunch because I have no way to keep it cool during a 2+ hr lunch. I'd rather not have to backtrack to St Remy so I was hoping there would be some place between Les Baux and Fontvielle maybe in Maussane or Paradou.

It's 9 kms (6 miles) from Les Baux to St Remy. So, you can aither "backtrack" to shop at a couple of large stores or deal with the much smaller stores that you will find in the smaller villages.

Suit yourself.

You will find suitable stores in Fontvielle to keep you going. We drove through there last week but I cannot remember if it is an Intermarche or Casino - anyway it will be advertised as you drive in.

My advice would then be to find your nearest larger supermarket and stock up . Don't rely upon the markets as they can inflate their prices e.g. we bought a certain item in our local market last week only to find it was now in stock at our supermarket at a quarter of the price.

Fontvieille is on Google Streetview so you can have a look for yourself. It is unlikely that a general food shop wouldn't be open Saturday afternoon unless it happened to be a public holiday.

Thank you all for the great advice (going to the home first & getting a sense of prices in advance of the village markets) and links (the street view is so helpful and something I never remember to do).
