Aix-en-Provence Tours

Can anyone advise which would be the better place to stay Avignon or Aix, when we only have 2 nights. Also does anyone have any suggestions of day tours to do if we stay in Aix.

Here is the link for the Tourist Office in Aix. They offer daily tours to different places in Provence: …aixenprovencetourism.com/aix-excursions.htm.

We are also from Australia and are stayinG in Aix en Provence now after a few days at Avignon.

We would highly recommend both of our accomodation spots.

Avignon was La Mirande. Just amazing and fantastic location. This was recommended to us by freinds and we will be forever grateful.

Aix is La Maison. Very modern compared to the historical Mirande but great experience.

The folk at the Tourist office are very helpful and in early February during our six day stay we did a day trip to Luberon,Larcoste and the surrounding area.

The driver/guide was excellent and provided us with personalized tour as we were his only customers allowing plenty of time to wander about the11/12th. century hilltop villages .

The winter is a good time for us to travel and we were blessed with sunny days and few fellow travelers.

The Adagio hotel/apart. was our choice to stay, Central location ,friendly and helpful front office staff with good English skills .

The kitchenette was a BIG plus enabling us to enjoy fresh produce from the must visit daily and weekly markets, the local supermarket [Casino] holds a vast choice of foods and wine.

We enjoyed our stay in the walkabout town of AIX and would recommend the modern well appointed Adagio, our favorite restaurant was Ryad but there many to choose from.

yes we booked the day before at the tourist office .

I cant recall their name , we traveled in a VW Transporter and were the only pax on board due to freezing conditions, the sun beemed down on us ,we all had a good day.

Four vans run through out the warmer months and tourist office will know of these tours........good luck, enjoy wonderful AIX and surrounds.
