We atayed at the D'Arlartan for 5 nights last year and loved the place - it's built over old Roman Baths. Check out our review in the hotel section of TA

We just stayed at Hotel Calendal, (in the "old city") and would definitely recommend it. OUr room, with a small stand-on balcony, look directly out on the Coloseum (about 50 feet away). Nice courtyard for breakfast (if you choose to eat there - we did every morning)). Extremely friendly and helpful (English-speaking) staff. Absolutely recommend paying for hotel parking. Also, make sure to ask at desk for directions when driving out of town. You can walk to everything in the old city and also walk down to the busier part of town.

Taking a car insite the city walls is difficult and expensive. We stayed about 20 minutes walk from the city walls at the hotel Rodin. While not as charming as some places in the town centre it has large airy rooms, a great pool and free secure parking.
