Lunch at or near Avignon

Taking the TGV from Paris arriving around noon. Hotel is Le Crillon Le Brave an hour or so northeast. Plan to rent car and thought we would have lunch before heading to hotel. Will be a Sunday that may limit our choices. Prefer smaller local casual places with emphasis on food.

And any other recommendations? We will be in Provence for only two nights...

Thanks!

I think one of your problems is going to be timing.

Sunday lunch is a popular family gathering time in the smaller restaurants. We always book our tables for about 1pm and are normally the last people to arrive.

So by the time you arrive and sort out your car the clock is ticking.

I might be inclined to ask Crillon to make you a picnic. I seem to remember from our stays there that they did this if ordered in advance. Head straight there, pick it up and picnic with the magnificent views of Mont Ventoux.

Sounds like a good idea. And it's only a half hour from the TGV to the hotel - unless you get lost.

We ended up booking a different train and will arrive 1040a.

Any feedback recently on Newground? It is open Sunday....
