Tour to Pont du Gard

We will be based in Montpellier and using trains.

We plan to visit Avignon and wonder if we should take a tour to encompass Pont du Gard and if anyone has any recommendations as to a company.

This will be in early June.

Reading earlier posts it doesn't seem awfully easy to get to Pont du Gard from Avignon but any advice would be appreciated.

There is regular bus service to Pont du Gard from Avignon using bus A15. Here schedules are here:

It's well worth getting the morning bus there, then taking the lunchtime bus on to Uzes, a lovely small town that feels sort of middle-eastern to me. I think it's the architecture.

The bus to the Pont is extremely simple. Drop by the Tourist Office on Rue de Republic and ask for full info. They are incredibly helpful, and the place to catch the bus is just a couple easy blocks away.

Cheers!

You might not need to go to Avignon but can take the Bus from Nimes if I remember well. All will be shown on Edgar (gard for the department of Nimes) timetables.

It's not very difficult to get to the Pont du Gard from Avignon; Sarastro has given the bus link, which leaves from the bus station, by the railway station. As ChicChantal says, the morning bus can also allow you to visit Uzès too, a lovely small town.

Phidou mentions visiting from Nimes; if you will be in Nimes, here's the link for the B21 bus from the bus station, which is out through the back of the railway station and diagonally right, bus stop 10:

The timetable for June isn't showing yet. The bus stop needed is by the village of Vers, at the Rond Point Plataines, the big roundabout and the Pont du Gard is just round the corner. Bus fare 1.50€.
