Beausoleil or Nice??

hello,

I am planning a trip to the french riviera in April, and i'm wondering which of the two, beausoleil or nice, is a better spot to stay in for exploring the area?

we do want to spend some time in monaco, but also other places, like eze, san remo, etc...

what do you recommend?

For the places that you mention (Monaco, Eze, San Remo), the Beausoleil is quite a good base. But it really does depend on how long you've got and how far you want to explore.

Beausoleil is sometimes referred to as Upper Monaco, and if you stay close to the border, you have all the advantages of the Monaco public transport system - regular and reliable buses, night buses every night, major railway station. There are buses that give easy access into the places around Monaco (Eze, La Turbie, Roquebrune, Menton) and you're 20 minutes closer to Italy on the train than you would be in Nice.

However, if you plan to visit places that aren't on the railway line (for instance Vence and St Paul de Vence), then Nice is a better bet. Of course if you're hiring a car, then ignore all the public transport advice. In that case, it depends on parking.

Nice is bigger and has more nightlife and shopping, restaurants etc. But if you want to spend a lot of your time in Monaco, then Beausoleil is probably better.
