5 days in cannes...Help!!

we are a family of 2 adults and 3 children. We are going to be staying in Cannes for 5 nights and I wanted to get your opinion on whether you thing it is too much if we plan on visiting the following towns? We will be using public transport.

st tropez,

St jean Cap Ferrat

Villefranche sur mer

Do you think that Im missing out on any great hidden gems? Since our kids are with us we plan on beaching, eating and just enjoying the sights. Museums are not high on our priority list.

Pls advise

thanks so much

You'll be missing a lot if you don't visit Nice. It's a lovely city with much to see and do, including the old town, and the kids (and perhaps yourselves) could roller-blade along the Promenade des Anglais. I find Nice much, more interesting and enjoyable than Monaco.

Nice is worth all the others put together. Strange omission.

As for the rest of the list, its the usual suspects, which is fine apart from St Tropez, which is extraordinarily difficult and expensive to get to by public transport, and not of any special interest to children. Unless you are prepared for the travel difficulty, its not a particularly good idea

Hidden gems? On the French Riviera?

Hi there ,

It depends on your stamina and interests as a family, but I think you have too much there if you want to relax and the kids may well be bored (age and interests dependent of course).

St Tropez will be expensive to get to and take out a whole day- as others have said not much there for children either.

Grimaud is going to be difficult to get to as well - would scrap that too unless you definitely want to go to St Tropez

Eze village could be combined with Nice one day - train to Nice then bus to Eze village if you want to visit Nice.

Cap Ferrat, Villefranche and Monte Carlo would work well by train one day ( Carte Isabelle family card) and you could get to Eze village the same day by bus from either Monte Carlo or Eze Bord de Mer railway station if really pushed.

On the day you visit Antibes, if you enjoy scenery, suggest you take bus 200 or the train to Juan Les Pins, then walk down the Cap d'Antibes to its point at the Eden Roc Hotel ( ~ 30 to 40 mins) and from there take the bus to Antibes old town (or you can walk all the way round). You could also do this in reverse ie get the 200 bus to Antibes, then no 2 bus to the Eden Roc and walk back to JLP, then back to Cannes.

Other suggestions - ferry to the Isles de Lerins from Cannes old port ( 20 min), a local bus up to Vieux Le Cannet ( 20 mins) for views, a medieval village and restaurants.

There's more than enough there for 5 days - Enjoy :)
